OATMEAL PANCAKES

Oats are amongst the healthiest grains on Earth. They're a gluten-free whole grain and a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Studies show that oats and oatmeal have many health benefits.

These include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels and a reduced risk of heart disease.

Here are some health benefits of eating oats and oatmeal.

1. Oats Are Incredibly Nutritious

The nutrient composition of oats is well-balanced.They are a good source of carbs and fiber.

2. Whole Oats Are Rich in Antioxidants

Whole oats are high in antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds called polyphenols. Most notable is a unique group of antioxidants called avenanthramides, which are almost solely found in oats.

3. They Can Lower Cholesterol Levels

Heart disease is the leading cause of death globally. One major risk factor is high blood cholesterol. Many studies have shown that the beta-glucanfiber in oats is effective at reducing both total and LDL cholesterol levels.

4. Oatmeal Is Very Filling and May Help You Lose Weight

Not only is oatmeal (porridge) a delicious breakfast food — it's also very filling. Eating filling foods may help you eat fewer calories and lose weight.

5. Finely Ground Oats May Help With Skin Care

It's no coincidence that oats can be found in numerous skin care products. Makers of these products often list finely ground oats as "colloidal oatmeal."

In addition to these health benefits that we can get from oats, there are a lot of ways on how to cook and prepare it. And one of my favourite recipe is the “Oatmeal pancakes”. It’s very simple, easy, and budget friendly dish that everyone will surely love. Instead of making the usual pancake, why not try to make it healthier?

So, here are the following ingredients that we need for the recipe;

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats

  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • [if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"></v:path> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"></o:lock> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="Picture_x0020_2" o:spid="_x0000_s1026" type="#_x0000_t75" style='position:absolute;margin-left:9pt;margin-top:44.4pt;width:453pt; height:254.8pt;z-index:251668480;visibility:visible;mso-wrap-style:square; mso-wrap-distance-left:9pt;mso-wrap-distance-top:0;mso-wrap-distance-right:9pt; mso-wrap-distance-bottom:0;mso-position-horizontal:absolute; mso-position-horizontal-relative:text;mso-position-vertical:absolute; mso-position-vertical-relative:text'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.jpg" o:title=""></v:imagedata> <w:wrap type="through"></w:wrap> </v:shape><![endif][if !vml][endif]1 egg

Now, we all have the ingredients ready. Let’s proceed with the directions;

  1. Place flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, milk, vanilla, oil and egg in a food processor and puree until smooth.

  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Over-all preparation and cooking time is just 20 minutes!
